HISTORY
History is very sketchy on the Augusta County Poor Farm.  It was said that a Boys home was once on the site before it became the poor farm.  In the mid 20's the Poor Farm was built to serve the homeless in the community.  This location served 11 counties in Virginia.  There is even an unmarked graveyard on the property that has well over 150 bodies buried there.

In the 1940's, the Poor Farm became the District Home of Waynesboro.  The question that still lingers,
were there any ties to the local DeJarnette Center in nearby Staunton, Va.

The Home then closed in the mid 1990's suddenly, as patients were moved to various locations
throughout the county.  Papers still lay on the floors of this location as to if it was just suddenly shut down.

INITIAL WALKTHROUGH
This was our first initial visit to the abandoned Augusta County Poor Farm.  We were just getting our bearings set on the location to know what we would need when we came back to do our first investigation.  We only had cameras at this time, but the things that we caught were very impressive.  This was just the beginning of many investigations to come at this location.
